Less than a week after setting the world record for highest ever online pot in a poker game, Patrik Antonius has shattered his own personal best, bringing home a pot worth a staggering $1,356,947. His opponent? Once again, the illusive Isuldur1.
The two were playing $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha on the real money online poker site Full Tilt Poker. At the beginning of the hand, Isuldur1 was short stacked at $677,973.50, while Antonius was riding high with $1,259,450.25. Antonius was dealt Ah-Kh-Ks-3s, and Isuldur1 got 9s-8h-7d-6d. After a flurry of pre-flop betting, the pot sat at $162,000.
The flop came down 4s, 5c, 2h, giving Antonius a straight, A through 5, and at best a straight draw for Isuldur1. Antonius immediately lead out with $91,000, and Isuldur1 raised to $435,000.
Antonius responded by punching it up to $779,000, and Isuldur1 shoved the rest of his stack in for a total bet of $597,473.50, which meant Antonius got some change back.
With the pot now a record breaking $1,356,947, it remained now only to find out who was taking it home.
The turn card was 5h, which didn’t affect the landscape at all for either player, and the river brought 9s. Isuldur1’s best hand was therefore 2 pair, 5s and 9s, which was simply no match for Antonius’s straight.
This meant that the epic pot was shipped to Antonius, setting a world record for the second time in less than 7 days. It would appear that Isuldur1 has gone from being a massive winner to a massive fish in short order.
