That’s right folks.  Two players by the name of kdawg1979 and the other not yet released won the bad beat jackpot at Aced Poker after us mentioning the BBJ on our sister site, Compatiblepoker.  What’s even more amazing is that kdawg179 was actually a freeroll player who won money to play on the real money tables.

The odds of hitting a bad beat jackpot are obviously not very large but to have two of our very own visitors sit in on a very large bad beat jackpot brings a smile to my face.  kdawg1979 was one of our visitors who won $128,000 for his winning of the hand.  The actual loser got $257K.  Our other visitor got $18k just for sitting in and watching the bad beat jackpot.

The crazy thing is, this was the lowest possible hand to win the bad beat jackpot, quad 7’s.  This set off the $734, 542 jackpot.  I was then made aware by the manager of Carbon Poker, part of the Merge Network which also runs Aced Poker that two of our players were part of the action.

We expect Bad Beat Jackpot.com to bring in millions of dollars worth of winners in the future.  While bad beat jackpots can be slow to grow at certain sites we are hoping for a large poker site to step up to the plate and offer something like a MEGA poker bad beat jackpot.

I can tell you that if a jackpot escalated to over $5 million everyone and their brother would be playing the jackpot tables, myself included!  With the player volume that Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker has this could very easily be done with a harder to hit jackpot.

Unfortunately both have been unwilling to support our requests to add bad beat jackpots.  So congratulations to the following players for winning the bad beat jackpot:  Ween10, kdawg1979, 123maryc and the other remaining players who got $18k in cash.

Update 11/03/2009: Echecks are currently down at AP and UB.  Pokerstars.com is the only poker website with echecks at the moment.

We have just learned that Echecks are now available at the poker site, Absolutepoker.com. They had a brief down time with their echecks but have since corrected the problem and deposits are going straight through with this method.

I first asked live support but sometimes they are not always in the loop so I tested a $100 deposit and it went through with no problems at all. All of the other major poker rooms are still having big issues, including Pokerstars, Fulltilt and Doylesroom.

AP is actually one of the best in the industry when it comes to deposits so it does not surprise me that they fixed the problem so quickly. The good thing is, this is very positive news as it looks like echecks will probably come back soon at the other major sites. In the meantime Absolutepoker.com stands to gain a large percentage of the Echeck player market share.

BBJ will continue to keep you informed on the ongoing echeck fiasco as it unfolds.

April 20, 2011 2:13pm Update- Echecks are not available for US players, in fact Poker Stars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker are among many poker sites closed by the US government.

pokerstars-icon-18x19 PokerStars.com is still accepting echecks. We checked this morning and it appears that echecks are still available.

Check back for further updates.

June 9, 2009 3:55pm Update - ECHECKS are currently working again at Absolutepoker.com. I tested a $100 deposit with no problems. All other sites are still having issues. Stemming from the US DOJ crack down on USA poker deposits we have just learned that the US District of New York is the cause of the seized $30 million in funds.

………….

Arguably one of the most popular ways to deposit into online poker sites in the USA, Instant Echecks, took a tumble today across all major online poker sites.  The cause has yet to be known but has affected all sites that use echeck poker deposit options.

The first to get hit with the downed echecks was Pokerstars.  Upon trying to deposit at Pokerstars players were confronted with this error message shown below.  Support is bismal in their efforts to calm down players and simply say they are working on fixing the problem.  As many US players know by now, when something like this goes down it could be hours or never before it is implemented again.

Poker Stars Echeck Down

Upon reviewing this problem at Pokerstars, Badbeatjackpot instantly went to Full Tilt Poker only to find they were suffering from the same problem.  Next stop, Doylesroom, and yes they too were affected.  This seems to be a widespread problem. After that Absolutepoker was hit with echecks going down. They did not even know about it until BBJ warned them.

Many may not remember but right after the UIGEA passed this deposit option became unavailable.  Only after many months did it return under a limited basis.  It quickly became the easiest and most convenient way for the casual player to play real money USA poker.  It has suffered brief problems since then but never nationwide.

BBJ will keep an eye on this situation as it occurs.  For now we are urging players to use ECHECKS at Absolutepoker.com as they are still functioning there, for now at least.

As the story unfolds there are many interested parties waiting to see if this truly was a processor going down (it would have to be a huge processor to affect all sites) or if this is a crack down by the banks and the UIGEA.
